Photo & Video License

This page explains how you may use the photos, video, floor plans and other content created by CHC Aerial LLC. It adds detail to the "Content ownership and license" section of our Terms & Conditions.
1. Who owns the content
CHC Aerial LLC owns the copyright in all photos, video, drone footage, floor plans and other content we create. Paying for a shoot gives you a license to use the content. It does not transfer ownership.
2. Who is licensed
The license goes to the client who booked and paid for the shoot, usually the listing agent and their brokerage. It is limited, non-exclusive and non-transferable. It takes effect once the order is paid in full.
3. What you can do
For the property shown, you may use the content:
- On the MLS and real estate listing websites.
- In your social media, online ads, email campaigns, flyers, brochures, signs and other print marketing.
- In your own portfolio and in marketing your past sales, including after the property sells or the listing expires (see section 5).
Brokerages may use the content to market the listing and to show the agent's work.
4. What's not allowed
Without our written permission, you may not:
- Sell, sublicense or give away the content.
- Transfer it to other agents, builders, homeowners, stagers or anyone else.
- Edit it in a way that misrepresents the property, such as removing permanent features, hiding defects or adding things that aren't there. Normal cropping and resizing are fine.
- Use it to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models, or to generate new images from it.
- Remove or alter any watermark, copyright notice or file information.
- Claim it as your own work or enter it in contests.
5. After the sale or listing expiry
The agent may keep using the content indefinitely in their own portfolio and in marketing their past sales. Active marketing of the property as for sale should stop once it sells or the listing ends.
6. Credit
Credit ("Photo: CHC Aerial") is appreciated but not required for normal real estate marketing. It is required when the content appears in a magazine, newspaper, book or other publication.
7. Homeowners, builders, new agents and publications
Anyone other than the licensed client, such as the homeowner, a builder, a new listing agent, a vacation rental host or a publication, needs their own license. Licenses are available on request and are quoted for each use. Contact us before using the content.
8. Commercial and land clients
For commercial property, land and other non-residential shoots, the client may use the content to market the property or project shown. Any other use, such as company advertising beyond that property, needs a written agreement.
9. Video and music
Videos use royalty-free music licensed for that video only. You may share and post the finished video as delivered. Don't separate the music from the video or reuse it elsewhere. Some platforms may still flag or mute music, which is outside our control. Re-editing the video into a different piece needs our permission.
10. 3D floor plans
Floor plans and 3D floor plans are for marketing the property only. They are approximate and are not survey, architectural or construction documents. All measurements should be independently verified.
11. Prints and digital downloads
Prints and digital downloads bought from our shop are for personal use only, such as decorating your home or as a gift. Commercial use, including use in advertising, products, resale or business decor, needs a separate written agreement.
12. Our portfolio
We may use any content we create in our portfolio, website, social media and marketing. If you'd prefer we don't show your property, email us and we'll honor written opt-out requests.
13. Unauthorized use
Using our content outside this license is copyright infringement. We may ask that it be removed, charge a license fee for the use, or take other action allowed by law. If you see our work used without permission, please let us know.
